Ow Doo!
The charity Afghan Heroes has organised another Mother's Day Ride of Respect to take place on Sunday 3rd April 2011. This was taken from their site:
“Registrations for the Mother's day 2011 Ride of Respect through Wootton Bassett are now open! Spaces are limited to 10,000 bikes so we recommend that you sign up early.
This ride pays tribute to the people of Wootton Bassett, RAF Lyneham and the men and women of our armed forces. All money raised will go to Afghan Heroes who help our service personnel directly on the front line; the families of those who have fallen and our returning service personnel who have witnessed these horrific losses of their fellow comrades.
Last year's event was fantastic - let's see if we can make this year's even better!”
Sadly, the event will more than likely be the last one held at Wootton Bassett as RAF Lyneham is due to close later this year.
If you are interested in taking part you will need to register your intent with Afghan Heroes, and you can do so by clicking this link;
http://shop.afghanheroes.org.uk/ror2011.asp
It will cost you £10.00 per person, (in case you take a pillion), but you will get a free commemorative wristband. The ride starts in hourly schedules, (0700-0800, 0800-0900, etc.), so you have to state your preferred time.
Myself and Shaun McMahon are planning to take part and will be travelling down on Saturday 2nd and returning on Monday 4th April. Should anyone else wish to join us they are more than welcome, but please let us know, and don't forget to register. ( We'll be staying in a B&B, but if you want to camp, we'll not hold it against you!
