I want to buy a sat nav for my bike, probably a Garmin Zumo and would greatly appreciate any advice if you have one.

Have you looked at the TomTom Rider?

http://www.tomtom.com/products/product.php?ID=481&Category=1&Lid=1

It's a bit pricey, but apparently you can ride under water with it and it'll still work!
