Please note  the following in reference to the above “Ride Out” (Somehow I got pursueded to lead).

Ride out leaves Poynton WMC at 10am sharp. Please turn up with a fullish tank of gas.

The actual ride out is to Fairbourne in Wales, which is a kind of 60's seaside resort that time forgot. (Apparantly built my McDougal of flour fame in the early 1900's).  Three reasons for picking this as a destination.

1.  There are some VERY challenging roads near to it. 2. There is a mini steam train that runs to the coast at Barmouth 3. I had to suffer going there every year during the summer holiday's as a nipper, so I think other people should suffer it a bit too.

Whilst according to Sat Guess it's approx 2 hours (100 miles), in truth with the odd stop it's about 3 hours.

What I would suggest is maybe arriving at the Fairbourne  having fish & chips, maybe take in a ride on the steam train., and then club members make their own way home.

Ride is likely to be of the “Spirited” level.

PLEASE NOTE If the weather is crap (Rain - Heavy showers), the ride out will be cancelled, and I will put a posting on the MAIN forum by 8am on the day Sunday 09.08.09 at the latest to this effect ONLY if the ride out is to be cancelled. At the mo the weather looks OK which is frankly amazing.

Think thats it tootle pip!

Any questions Etc I can be contacted on 0784 3369583

Just wanted to thank H for leading this rideout.

I was a little apprehensive when your satnav took us down the A6 into the heart of Stockport - to get to Wrexham, but it turned out good in the end. Fast twisties, Welsh scenery and glorious weather. The steam train ride took the biscuit though.

280 miles roundtrip. Returned back at 7pm.

There will be pictures I'm sure.

Who would have believed that a trip on a miniature railway was so much fun.

Fairboune was a weird destination for a ride-out, but Hamish (the ride leader) got it spot-on - he even managed to sort out decent weather for us. 15 bikes plotted up at the Workies - a combination of veteran and new(ish) club members on a variety of steeds.

Hamish did a cracking job of leading and didn’t lose anyone. The roads after the M56 moronway (sic) were brilliant and didn’t have too much traffic. No sign of the infamous Welsh police anywhere - which was nice.

The miniature (it’s not that small) railway at Fairbourne was a hoot - glad we did it.

The bike ride  was, shall we say, spirited most of the way.

In fact the whole day was so good that I think Hamish should lead at least a couple more ride-outs either this or next year

And here they are.

There's always one isn't there?

It was cosy:

The jury is still out on where FastH disappeared to for half an hour, but we have our suspicions:

Indeed.

The chap in the photo only seems to be sunning one buttock (WTF?). You've never seemed like a man to do things by halves H, so I'd say we have an impostor here.

Just wanted to add my thanks to everyone else's (well Ben and Stef's anyway). Thanks for the ride-out on Sunday H, I really enjoyed it, good route, great roads, the train was fun and the ride leader was outstanding. I agree with Stef, I think it was so good that H should do another one, despite what H says about not doing so, he's only being modest, and if he can't be 'persueded' we should leather 'im.

Thank you for your kind words.

I presume your comment “Leather im” refers to some activity or interest that you have outside of the club?

Certainly not one that i am familiar with, but I wish you the best of luck with it.
