just got back from the rideout and wanted to thank Rob for all the work he did in planning this trip, the only downside was the weather, seemed like there was a rain cloud following me all day, best roads I think I've ever ridden, there and back. Also a big thanks to Nigel for getting me home, three of us peeled off for home after visiting “the village of the damned” and I hadn't a clue where I was. I'll definitely be going back for more (on a sunny day !)

Steve, you were in West Barton.  It was a good ride out, despite the rain and some of us getting seperated near Bolton Abby  but by good luck and guess work we all joined up again. Five of us did reach Heartside Cafe well after it closed  but it was so later we came back via the M6 so Rob still has the plans for a second Ride Out “The Return Route”.

Thanks Steve, glad you enjoyed it! Just sorry you had to disappear and miss even better roads, although on the plus side, you did miss the mother of all rain-storms just as we got onto the A66. Ironically once that had stopped, it was glorious all the way to the Cafe and on the journey home.

I think I need to investigate a quicker way of getting over to Hebden Bridge if we ever do the reverse of the return part of the journey. I went the way I did for 2 reasons. 1. Most importantly, to cater for any who weren't able to use the motorway, (I also hate motorway travelling). 2. I wanted to show people the delights and roads of Saddleworth.

If anyone ever fancies trying out any of the roads we went on, particularly the road between Bolton Abbey and Aysgarth, or even better, Barnard Castle and Alston, Laughing  I'll gladly take you up there.

Rob.

Just wanted to add my thanks to Rob for a good rideout yesterday, the roads were absolutely cracking. I don't like motorway riding either but the roads up there around Penrith and in the Dales that I think next time I'll go up on the M6 just so i can spend more time riding the really good 'A' and 'B' roads.

Cheers Rob.
