It’s with deep regret that I have to tell you of the untimely death of one of our Poynton Motorcycle Club members.
Peter Summerton passed away on Saturday 4th July. He was in the MRI recovering from an operation and making a fantastic recovery and should have been going home the next day. Unfortunately, he suddenly collapsed and the doctors couldn't revive him.
Peter’s son Paul, who is also a member of PMC, says his Dad enjoyed being a member of the Club and on the occasions that they attended meetings together he enjoyed the friendship of other members. When the club magazine published an article featuring their 2006 tour to Ireland with Silvester Szakal and Steve Pimlott he considered himself famous! He loved riding his Triumph Thunderbird when he got the chance and was also a member of the Triumph Owners Club.
Paul tells me about 20 bikes turned up and escorted Peter’s funeral cortege from Poynton to Stockport and Paul would like to pass on his thanks to all those people who came
The PMC Committee would like to pass on our condolences and very best wishes to Paul and his Mum Jackie on behalf of all the Club members.
At the next Club meeting on August 5th we will be holding a collection for the Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund (SRBF) in memory of Peter. If you would like to make a contribution but won’t be able to come to the meeting please get in touch with me
