Due to the fact that we now live in a nanny state that you requires us hooligans to have eyes in the back of our heads, whilst out tootling on our scoots. I have therefore decided to upgrade my abilty to see behind me, by the purchase of a rear view  camera and screen for one of my bikes. (How F trick is that!). Anyway “Man in Black” tracked the kit down for me and I am awaiting delivery as I type. The system is wireless and what you get is a mini camera that mounts at the back of your bike, and a 3 1/2″ screen that you mount in your fairing or similar. Once fitted I will report back on what it's like. Now obv as I thought of it I don't want every man and his dog getting one though!

Also heard on VERY good authority that Yamaha are increasing their new bike prices by approx 15%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! in the New Year! Making an R1 about 12.5K. (You heard it here even before  “Everything is fantastic….but we want to drive in Bus Lanes if we can please …. MCN announced it).

Laters.

H, Is this going to be in addition to mirrors ? or instead of ?, ive thought of fitting the same set up on the gixxer since i built it two years back, but have been unable to get a definitive answer as to the legality of removeing the mirrors, i dont need some pedantic policeman giveing me three points.

I seem to remember from the distant past that the law goes something like:-

If you have mirrors you must have at least 2 fitted to your bike…………………unless you are a MOD then you must have at least 17 fitted for some reason.

I am using the camera system on my bike instead of mirrors. (I have fitted a mega rare Yam fairing kit to my MT-01 and mirrors ruin the looks of it).

Think “The Old Bill “would have to be sharp witted to see you don't have mirrors fitted to your bike anyway.

If I get pulled ,I will tell them that I am part of a religious sect (That believes that mirrors are the work of the Anti Christ) and that I therefore  receive govenment funding for my religious beliefs.

As regards getting pulled….rebel that I am I'm prepared to take the risk. (Though I will prob now end up doing 10 years in the Scrubs !)
