I was talking to Craig tonight ( he used to own Marshalls Motorcycles) and moved to Spain to help his lad James with his racing career.
James ( Flitcroft) aged 13 has been selected as a reserve to race in the 2010 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup
Over the three seasons of the Cup so far the level of competition has steadily increased and the selection process has been tightened this year with applications being sought from teenagers with high performance motorcycle experience. Applicants needed to provide proof of racing success on their application forms, but this was not limited to road racers as motocrossers, dirt trackers, speedway and any other speed-sport competitors were welcome.
The most promising applicants were invited to a single selection event in Europe on 6th October 2009. From that day of testing a very small number were invited to join the Rookies Cup for 2010.
Whilst the best of this year’s Rookies, like Jakub Kornfeil and Sturla Fagerhaug, look to continue their careers in the 2010 125cc World Championship, many of the others will remain in the Cup for another season until the best of them can also make the step up to Grand Prix racing.
The calendar for the 2010 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup has yet to be finalised, but it will continue to run alongside the majority of European Grands Prix and is due to start next year in Jerez at the Spanish Grand Prix.
Well done Jim
