Having had a bit of a blast yeterday around Matlock way , it would now seem that ALL roads are a maximum of 50MPH everywhere. We never really got our bikes out of the first 3 gears! CRAP…………….so anyway bit of a change of plan for the run that under suffererance I have agreed to lead, on the above day.

Also there seem to be a lot of those “Slow down or you are going to die in the next 100 yards” Bike sign messages appearing. By the way have you seen the one of the bloke getting his knee well down on one of the signs. Almost encourages you!

Instead of the the “Derbyshire Fat B******” run out, it's now going to be the “Memories of steam tour”.

Route is approx 110 Miles each way, with some very challenging roads in parts.

Ends up in a place called Fairbourne  near Barmouth in Wales. Seems that you are as likely to get nicked by the Old Bill in Derbyshire as Wales now, so might as well start going back to Wales I guess. (Shot for sheep and lamb Etc springs to mind).

Ben could you update the Run Out part of the Website?

Are you going to bring your badges with you?  One never knows what kind of doors they could open.

Dear me H. How long is it since you went up the Cat & Fiddle? I thought you were a regular but that road seems to have been a blanket 50mph for yonks now. Perhaps you were going so fast the last time you rode it you didn't see the new speed limit signs. And it's not just the ludicrously low speed limit, which is boring even for me on Capt. Sensible with the horsepower of a Zanussi spin dryer. Apparently they are going to install average speed detectors and cameras with number plate recognition and will eventually roll out that programme on loads of roads across a wide area so that it will be your average speed across a long ride-out that will be recorded, so you won't even be able to go fast on one and slow on another to avoid getting into trouble - Big Brother will know what you have done and get you anyway. Won't be long before the entire country is networked with them. Even I am beginning to agree with you about the Nanny state. And somebody told me recently that they are beginning to crack down in France as well. At this rate even I will have to resort to track days.

Never mind, your alternative rideout sounds good but I think you should prepare yourself for a shock. You'll probably find that whilst you've been avoiding Wales they have put the limit down to 50 on all their roads as well. It's already happening across Cheshire and I've heard that by 2010 50mph will be the maximum speed on every road in Cheshire (apart from the M56). Perhaps we should move to the IoM.
