I would guess the Ace Cafe or The “Ace” to us real bikers, is one of the must see once places for all people with an interest in bikes.

Anyway whilst The “Ace ” holds many events during the year, one of the best ones is the Triumph day which this year is being held on Sunday 14th June.

Don't worry if you don't own a Triumph (Though in my belief you should!), as all sorts of bikes attend the day. (Though it's the accepted thing to park Non Triumph's across the road). Due the fact that my Triumph is that uncomfortable I struggle to ride it past Alderly Edge these days, I will be riding down on my MT-01, though the “Squeaker” will be pretending to be Purdy on her Thruxton.

Best thing about the day for me is seeing the Cafe Racers, Triton's Etc and chewing the cud with some of the original “59 ers”, who still own the same bikes, have the same hair cuts , and wear their original Lewis Leather jackets and pudding basin lids. (No Dainaise here!).

So not a ride out as such (Back in your kennel Ben), but just to let you know about the event, …………you never know we may see you on the North Circular……………round the roundabout and back again before the Gene Vincent record finishes!

Good to see that this has drummed up so much interest H. 31 views and no replies. Must be an all time record for lack of interest. You might want to reappraise your sales technique. Anyway, just goes to show you can take a horse to water, etc. etc.

Unfortunately, as you know, I have given my personal commintment to attend and keep you company. I say unfortunately because at the time I accepted I didn't realise I would have to mix with people with out of date haircuts, out of date bikes and who are likely to start their conversations with “When I were a lad there was no such thing as waterproofs, decent leathers, good boots that you don't have to wear with the fisherman's version of schoolgirl knee length white socks sticking out of them, and we didn't have any decent bikes either 'cos they were all kick-start Triumphs, BSAs and Nortons that usually failed to start first time and when they did they dropped oil like a drunken Kuwaiti”. Since my Deauville is likely to be a far better bike than most of the old snotters from the 50s and 60s I see no reason why I shouldn't park it in pride of place right outside the caff's front window so that all those sad old gits who used to fight on Brighton beach (a media myth apparently) can admire it and wish they had one instead of having foolishly kept that old parallel twin bag of shite that is only scary not because of how fast it goes but because of how slowly it stops with its old crappy drum brakes.

Not that I want to be contentious in order to provoke some responses or anything. You know me, always trying to pour oil on troubled water - although I suppose if I was serious about that I'd buy one of those old English bikes and park it over a puddle. Klop!

Maybe one of the reason thee is a lot of interest in looking but not in going is that a lot of people will be just back form the TT (I will still be on the Island) and just getting round to washing their dirty y fronts.

Just a thought, and I did visit the “Ace” when I was at Uni in London in the 60's and on  Triumph Twin.

Thank you David G for your reply.

Anyway Paul do I really strike you as someone that gives a T***, whether people go or not?

I’m just disappointed that you’re not going on the yellow peril, what with all the shiny bits it’s got.

I know it’s not comfy for you - but surely (assuming the weather is good and you don’t have to wash it afterwards) the pain would be well worth it for the admiring glances (of the bike). You also wouldn’t have to cross the road and risk getting run over.

I will be tagging along (on my Triumph) with you if you don’t mind. I assume that will be ok as I’m not “people”
