About us
Created by a group of like-minded riders, Poynton Motorcycle Club was the result of the biking camaraderie that cuts across all divisions of life. In existence since 2001, PMC has over 100 members, the youngest just twelve, the oldest, eighty-two, ranging from learners (who get help and advice) to riders who have been on two wheels for more than 60 years.
We have a great bunch of members coming from all walks of life and backgrounds,
owning and riding just as varied a selection of motorcycles; from a 1926 Scott right through to cruisers, tourers, off-roaders and modern superbikes.
The club caters for every motorcycling interest and type of riding, from ride-outs at weekends to off-roading and track-days – some keen members also race, both in at local club meets and further afield. One member has even competed in the Isle of Man TT races.
PMC advocates safe riding and, through various schemes and incentives, actively encourages riders to gain training either formally, through nationally accredited bodies like the IAM and BikeSafe, or through involvement with the clubs more experienced riders.
As with any good club we also have a very busy social side – organising events, trips and functions regularly hroughout the year. Some of these events are in aid of our nominated charity,
the North West Air Ambulance and some of them are just because we like to enjoy ourselves. Every June we take a group of riders to the Isle of man TT,
there are also annual trips to the Nurburgring and WSB at Magny Cours. In addition to our regular ride-outs and trips abroad, the club organises subsidised trips to the NEC bike show, off-road, track and drag racing days, minimoto events and attends the annual Poynton Show. Have a look at the Event page of this site to see what we are doing this year.
The club also enthusiastically supports, and helps marshal, the north west Xmas Toy Run held by the Salvation Army, which raises money and gifts for needy children.
All this – and more – for a yearly subscription of just £10.00
If you would like to know more, come along to a meeting – it’s on the first Wednesday of the month at Poynton Workmen’s Club from 8pm onward. You will be made most welcome.
